Lately I've been feeling the need to blabber on about the future. It's always there, isn't it? Just looming ahead of you (can something loom ahead?) all quiet and raising one eyebrow in a cheeky manner. Sometimes I want to kick the future in the shin and yell, "Stop that!"
What about the future has me thinking, you ask? What doesn't! The annoying thing are all the possibilities is holds and how I can't properly plan anything until this or that happens. Should I get an MFA in acting or a MA in Theater and Media Arts? Or go in a different direction and get a MA in English? Choices, choices. It also depends on Mike and what he decides to do. He wants to work for Pixar in the Sound Design department, but if I apply to out-of-state colleges for my Masters where does that leave his Pixar dream? In the future. Again. Cheeky rascal.
Some may be interested or excited to know that BYU is on my list of top five choices for a masters. It would be nice living around churchy things for a while, even if I do hate snow. It would definitely not be permanent, we would move back to the bay after my degree was finished. It all depends what kind of masters I decide to pursue. It all depends on when I want to start a family. An acting MFA would require a ton of time (9-5 everyday pretty much, not to mention rehearsals at night for any shows I do- so a 9am-10pm schedule) and having a kid would be literally impossible. But it has been my dream for years. Do I give that up and go for a masters that would also let me have a life on the outside and possibly a kid? Who knows! The future does, if only I could catch up to him and ask.
Top Five School Choices (In No Particular Order):
1)
2)
3)
4)
5) ?????
I guess it's actually a top 4! I thought about all the Great Ones: Yale, NYU, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Harvard....but realistically I would never get into those programs. Or afford them. I don't want a huge amount of debt after school so most of those bit the dust because of finances.
Anyways, enough about that.
Long term goals?
1) Mike working as a Sound Designer for a film company in the Bay- Pixar, LucasFilms...
2) Both earning our Masters- Theater related for me and music related for Mike.
3) Have at least one child in the next five years. Maybe two by the time I'm 29.
4) Buy something with a backyard- house, townhouse, etc.
5) Me working as a High School Theatre teacher while also acting on stage professionally.
That about does it for future thinking!
OH yea!
6) Publish something. :)
What are your goals?
Please come to BYU!!! I would love if you lived closer!
