The Disneyland Tickets Scam

This isn't something I wanted to admit or write about, however, I feel it's necessary for my healing process.

It's a bit silly how embarrassed and stupid this experience made me feel. I wanted to share in order for others to avoid feeling this way and to know that it DOES happen.

Craigslist scam.

Disneyland scam.

Who could have such a black heart? With a baby smiling straight in their face, they lied and took our money without any outward sign of guilt or remorse. Evil comes in many forms, some more subtle than others, but evil is evil. Do I feel strongly about this? Yes. Am I going to let it destroy my optimism? No.

I still truly believe people are inherently good. It's why I took the leap and bought the Craigslist tickets. Some people could call it naivety, I call it faith in the human race. Sometimes I'm let down, but I'd rather have that than cynicism. I don't care if that girl is laughing at us right now, she's the one with a shriveled up black soul and I feel pity for her. No anger, just a deep sadness for her lack of humanity.

Mike and I were looking for cheaper Disneyland tickets because, let's face it, those prices are astronomical! Especially for a family. We looked on Craigslist and found a good deal of two-day hopper tickets. We set up a time to meet and went to buy the tickets on our way down to Southern California.

When we met, Mike and I both looked over the tickets. They seemed 100% legitimate, but I was wary and hoped deeply that I was just being paranoid. You hear about people being scammed but never think it will happen to you. Hind sight is 20/20. Looking back I wish we'd just said no thanks and moved on, but we were kinda desperate for cheaper tickets. In the end we spent much more than if we'd just bought the passes at the park in the first place.

I'm amazed that the lady was so nice. That's probably what bothers me the most. Who can look into a baby's face, comment on how sweet she is, hear her coo and giggle, and rob us for our (obviously) hard-earned cash? AS WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THAT DAY?

I just want people to be smart. Don't buy tickets from other people. It's humiliating. I felt so extremely stupid afterwards. However, she may have gotten my money but she will not have my soul or one more minute of my thoughts.
